The owner of these Hydroplanes, Kirk, has been racing R/C
Scale Hydroplanes for more than 18 years and would help anyone that asked him. He is currently a board member of one, and
participant in both of the large, Northwest 1/8th scale R/C clubs. Additionally,
he is connected to the Hydroplane And Raceboat Museum in Kent (HARM). Our NAMBA affiliation guarantees that this
flier will be distributed NATIONWIDE and THROUGHOUT CANADA. There are tens of thousands of people that
this flier will be distributed to electronically. And from there, it will be shared with
friends of those friends. These boats will never see the water in
the United States or Canada, never be pawned, never be sold, without someone
being arrested and charged!!!
The best option right now is for the thieves to return these boats
anonymously, and collect this reward.
Soon, this reward will be retracted, and full charges will be
pursued. The thieves do not have the
motors, the radio gear, or any other components to make these boats
functional… RETURN THESE BOATS TODAY, by setting them beside the house you
took them from, and then make contact as shown above. By any method, leave contact information, and
the reward will be paid with no questions asked,
but only for a few days after this flier is distributed… Additionally, know, many of Kirks friends
will be going door to door soon, to inform the local community with this
information, and searching for these Hydroplanes!

Renault back into hydroplanes?

Well it is true, but not what hydroplane fans would hope for. They have a new concept for a tourist boat, and electric hydroplane. Check it out: http://www.tuvie.com/renault-hydroplane-concept-hybrid-vehicle-between-a-plane-and-a-boat/

Roger Newton Interview Part 1

Recently cleaning out the cubboards of the Newton Marine shop, I found a copy of an interview Unlimiteds Newsjournal did on my father, Roger Newton. It was so exciting to find this and re-read through the interterview! Hydroplanes had such a large impact in my father's life and this interview replayed some of the key moments of their relationship. Now without further ado, here is part 1 of 2 of Unlimiteds Newsjournal's interview of the Czar!

2011 RCU Diamond Cup

Well another race is in the books. Took the 1/8th scale electric Maverick out to RCU's Diamond Cup held in Granger Washington. Had a sub par day until the final round. I fortunately made the connie, won that and made it into the big show. In the final I decided to stay back and just finish, which turns out was a good idea as everyone tried to run over each other, and most of them did at one point or more! Ended up 4th place over all. The overall goal for the race was to make my way into the final heat... mission accomplished.

The boat runs better each time out, but the power is a bit much for the round nose hull right now. I had the same problem with a similar hull and a CMB nitro engine. A few more trips to the drawing board will help, but at this point I am happy with how the gear works, and have a better understanding of it all, which was the point of throwing the gear in a hull that was laying around.

With 2 races left, I am looking forward more to the offseason and time to get some projects started and finished. Next year should be interesting (as long as I do finish all of the projects).

Videos were taken of the finals, and I will upload them to the blog soon, so check back later to see how the race went down.

There will be an exhibition at Sacremento at the beginning of September, and in Washington DC after the San Diego race. Also Abu Dabi was added sometime before the Doha race in November. There are also rumors of an exhibition in China sometime in December or January. FOr more information visit www.h1unlimited.com

Newton Marine is proud to announce that with a joined effort with Mike Luszcz we now are selling 1/8th scale kits directly on our website! Currently laser kits are available for plans 101 and 146. We hope to expand the catalogue to provide more kits to all of our loyal customers and avid scale model boaters.

San Diego back on H1 tour?

According to several resources San Diego might be back on the H1 tour this year, less than a month away. An official announcement should be released by the end of the week. KNDU has an article regarding the possibility of the return to the bay: click here to read their article.
